1. About This App

Timelines is a calendar-driven agenda app that organizes your schedule into a clear, visual journey. It merges your calendars and tasks into a single, cohesive timeline so you can understand your day at a glance.

• Parallel Activity: Displays overlapping events in separate lanes, making busy periods easy to understand at a glance.
• Persistent Context: Keeps your current ongoing events visible at the top of the screen as you scroll through your day.
• Tasks Alongside Events: Shows your Google Tasks in the same timeline — incomplete tasks appear on their due date (or today when undated), and a tap opens them in the Google Tasks app.
• Birthdays and Anniversaries: Optionally shows the dated fields of your Google Contacts — birthdays, anniversaries, and other dated events — as yearly all-day rows.
• Personalized Setup: Lets you choose which calendars and task lists to display, how much of your future schedule to load, and how events look.
• Home-Screen Widget: Brings the agenda straight to your launcher, with room for long schedules.

Timelines is available for Android. Some features rely on connecting your Google account so the app can read your calendars, tasks, and contact dates (see the Privacy section below).

2. Privacy

code//jo ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This section explains how Timelines handles your information.

Key Point: Timelines has no server of its own. It is designed to work with your data on your device. We do not run analytics, tracking, advertising, or user accounts, and we never receive, collect, or store your Google user data.

2.1 Google User Data We Access

To build your agenda, Timelines connects to your Google account with your permission using Google's OAuth sign-in flow. It requests only read-only scopes, and Google's granular consent screen lets you grant or decline each one individually:

• Google Calendar — calendar list (calendar.calendarlist.readonly) — reads the list of calendars in your account, with their names and colors, so you can choose which ones appear in the agenda.
• Google Calendar — events (calendar.events.readonly) — reads the events of the calendars you select (title, start and end time, color, recurrence, and the link that opens the event in Google Calendar) in order to draw your timeline.
• Google Tasks (tasks.readonly) — reads the task lists you select (title, due date, completion status) so tasks can appear alongside your events.
• Google Contacts (contacts.readonly) — reads only the dated fields of your contacts: names, birthdays, anniversaries, and other dated events, shown as yearly all-day rows. A contact's email address or phone number is read solely as the handle Android needs to open that person in the Google Contacts app when you tap the row; it is never displayed, transmitted elsewhere, or used for any other purpose.

Direct, on-device processing: Because there is no Timelines backend, this data travels directly between your device and Google's APIs over an encrypted connection and is processed locally on your device. It never passes through, and is never stored on, any server operated by us. Timelines only reads — it cannot create, change, or delete anything in your Google account. Opening an event, task, or contact hands you off to the corresponding Google app on your device.

2.2 How We Share, Transfer, or Disclose Google User Data

We do not share, transfer, sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your Google user data — your calendar events, tasks, or contact data — to any third party, and we do not use it for any purpose other than displaying your agenda in the app. This is possible because we never receive that data in the first place. Specifically:

• No recipients, no service providers, no processors: We operate no servers, databases, or backend services that receive your Google user data, and we therefore engage no hosting providers, sub-processors, contractors, analytics vendors, or affiliates that could receive it. There is no third party with whom this data is shared.
• No third-party SDKs that receive your data: The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. The only third-party components it embeds are Google Play services (used for Google sign-in and authorization) and Google Play Billing (used only for the optional support purchase). Neither is given access to your calendar, task, or contact data.
• No advertising, no sale, no AI training: Your Google user data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold or licensed, never used to build profiles, and never used to train or improve any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model — ours or anyone else's. No human at code//jo reads it; we have no technical means to do so.
• The only transfers that occur: (a) between your own device and Google's own APIs, at your request and under the authorization you granted — Google processes this data as the provider of your account under its own privacy policy; and (b) on your device itself, when you tap a row and Android hands the item off to the Google Calendar, Google Tasks, or Google Contacts app.
• Legal requests: Since we neither receive nor retain your Google user data, we have nothing to produce in response to a subpoena, court order, or other legal demand. We would not be able to disclose your calendar, task, or contact data even if compelled.
• Change of ownership: Because no Google user data is held by us, none could be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Should our practices ever change, we will update this policy and obtain your consent before any new sharing takes place.

Timelines' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2.3 How We Protect Your Data

Calendar entries, tasks, and contact dates can be sensitive — they may reveal medical appointments, personal relationships, travel, or religious observances. Timelines treats all of this data as sensitive and protects it with the following measures:

• Encryption in transit: Every request to Google's APIs is made over HTTPS with TLS (1.2 or higher), using the Android platform's certificate validation. The app makes no unencrypted (cleartext) network connections, and it contacts no endpoints other than Google's.
• Encryption at rest: The local agenda snapshot, your app settings, and the widget's rendered rows are written to Timelines' private internal storage, which is isolated from other apps by the Android application sandbox (per-app UID and private file permissions) and is protected by Android's file-based storage encryption on any device with a screen lock.
• No credentials handled by us: Authentication runs entirely through Google's own OAuth flow via Google Play services. Timelines never sees, requests, or stores your Google password. Access tokens are short-lived, are issued and held by Google Play services rather than written to our own storage, are never logged or included in any diagnostic output, and are invalidated when rejected or when you disconnect an account.
• Least privilege and data minimization: Only read-only scopes are requested, and only the narrowest ones that cover what the app actually does — for calendars it asks for the calendar-list and events scopes rather than the broader full-calendar scope, so it has no access to calendar sharing permissions or account settings. Only the specific fields listed in section 2.1 are fetched, and only the calendars, task lists, and contact dates you switch on are read. You may decline any individual scope on the consent screen and the app will run without it.
• Minimal attack surface: There is no backend server, no user account, no remote database, and no remote logging — so there is no server-side store of your data that could be breached, misconfigured, or accessed by an employee. Your data never leaves the path between your device and Google.
• Integrity of the app: Timelines is distributed only through the Google Play Store and is cryptographically signed, so the build you install is the one we published. Development is done by a single developer; release signing keys are held offline and are not shared.

2.4 Data Retention and Deletion

• The local agenda snapshot exists only so the home-screen widget can draw without network access; it is overwritten on every refresh and holds no history.
• Disconnecting an account in the app immediately removes that account's events, tasks, and contact rows from the local snapshot and the widget.
• Uninstalling Timelines deletes all of its local data from your device.
• You can revoke the app's access to your Google data at any time at Google Account permissions.
• We hold no copy of your Google user data, so there is nothing on our side to retain or delete. If you have questions, contact us at the address below.

2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

Timelines is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect:

• Your calendar events, tasks, or contact data on our servers — we have no servers
• Personal identification information (name, email, phone, etc.)
• Location data
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Cookies or tracking technologies (except local storage used strictly for app preferences such as theme and display settings)

Important: Google processes your calendar, tasks, contacts, and account information according to its own terms when you sign in and grant access. Your device, operating system, and app store provider (Google) may also process certain technical data as part of delivering the app.

2.6 Local Data & the Home-Screen Widget

App preferences (such as selected calendars, theme, and display options) are stored locally on your device. The home-screen widget may cache rendered agenda rows as image files on your device for performance; these are stored locally and pruned automatically.

2.7 In-App Purchases

Timelines offers an optional, one-time "Support Timelines" purchase through the Google Play Store. Payments are processed directly by Google LLC — we do not receive your payment card details. We may receive limited information needed to validate the purchase (for example, a receipt or purchase status). Refunds are handled by Google Play under their rules.

Timelines' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See section 2.2 for the full data-sharing disclosure and section 2.3 for the protections applied to this data.

2.9 Children's Privacy

Timelines does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us (for example, by email), please contact us so we can address it.

2.10 Your Rights

Because we do not collect your personal data on our servers, we typically have no personal data for you to access, correct, delete, or port. Requests relating to your Google account, calendar, tasks, contacts, or payments should be directed to Google. You can revoke the app's access to your Google data at any time via your Google Account permissions.

3. Terms

These terms (the "Terms") govern your use of the Timelines app. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Timelines, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

3.1 License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Timelines for your personal use, subject to these Terms and any applicable Google Play terms.

3.2 Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
• Bypass or interfere with security or technical measures
• Use the app in an unlawful manner
• Distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app

3.3 In-App Purchases

The optional "Support Timelines" purchase is a one-time contribution processed by Google Play. Payments and refunds are handled by Google under their rules; we do not receive your payment card details.

3.4 Availability and Updates

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue Timelines (in whole or in part) at any time. We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times or on all devices. Features that rely on Google services depend on the continued availability of those services.

3.5 Disclaimer

Timelines is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Timelines is a viewing and organization tool for your existing calendars and tasks; you are responsible for the accuracy of your data in Google Calendar and Google Tasks.

3.6 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, code//jo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenues arising from your use of the app.

3.7 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict of law principles.
